Corten Steel Pipe
Corten Steel or more accurately,
Atmospheric Corrosion Resistant Steel, is a steel alloy consisting of copper
chromium. This is weather resistant steel, which is also known as Corten steel.
As compared with other unalloyed steels, Corten Steel shows better resistance
levels to atmospheric weathering. Because of the chemical composition of Corten
Steel, when it is exposed to weather, on its surface, a protective layer is
formed. What it actually means is that, in order for Corten Steel to be able to
form its protective coating, the steel rusts. There are many Corten Steel pipe suppliers available today, as this substance
has many uses, as it is in big demand in highly corrosive environments.
Corten Steel is used in a large number of
industries today and these include: oil & gas plants, petrochemical
industry, sugar plants, construction, nuclear power plant, building industry,

brown/red-orange look.
Cor-ten is a high strength, low alloy, weldable
structural steel possessing excellent weathering resistance. It may be used to
advantage in painted or unpainted condition. The steel owes its weathering
resistance to the formation of a protective oxide coating which seals the
surface against further corrosion. The coating is of a dark brown appearance
and if chipped or damaged, repairs itself to give continuity of protection and
appearance.

In order to obtain fine grain structure a
sufficient amount of nitrogen absorbing elements is added (e.g. ≥0.02% Al).

Gr.1 Seamless Pipes & Tubes Mechanical Properties, in the state of delivery
condition
At room temperature for plates ≥3mm in thickness
(transverse test specimans, according to EN 10002). Requirements to hot rolled
plates ≤3mm in thickness according to EN 10025-5.

In case of cold rolled material the yield point
is min. 310 Mpa and the tensile strength min. 445 MPa. Furthermore cold rolled
sheets ≤3mm in thickness made of steel grade COR-TEN A-F for increased demand
to the cold formability is available.
